Feeling weak and tired? you need a shugarr baby or chocolatey crepes!

myself and a friend went to this little cafe called Chez Lulu (don’t ask me what it meant, because I won’t have a bloody clue). We stepped in and oh wow, friendly crepes smell, great smiles from the owners, good lookie crepes being made. We then greeted by the owner who also the barista and we said not ready yet to order as we were still selecting. Then he said “oh belum tau” and I was like dude he’s talking my language. “oh belum tau” is Indonesian and it means “oh not yet”

We ordered Mont St Michel (Egg, Cheese, Smoked Salmon, Sour Cream, Capers, & Caviar) for savory which awesomely delicious and Belle Hélène (Pear, Melting Chocolate & Ice Cream) for the dessert. Both were dunked in within minutes and we were like yumm, mmm, ohhhh, woww the whole time. Truly wicked crepes! Then we finished it off with mocca coffee for my friend and long macchiatto x2 for me haha. Coffee poured perfectly and served immediately, hats off to the barista also to the crepes chefs!

On our way out, me just being me (curiosity kills you know) and asked the barista (I forgot to ask what his name is) how come he speaks nearly fluent Bahasa Indonesia with french accent which is cool. He then told me that he’s married to an Indonesian women from Batak. We had a little chit chat and then we parted and we promised him that we will go back and visit soon. Why wouldn’t I? great crepes, great coffees and warm welcoming staffs. It’s a definite return!

Uni students = Caffeine Junkie. I remember my days as a uni student with all the parties, never ending assignments and gap-less exam days. I survived through cheap infamous Indonesian instant noodle – Mie Goreng and coffee.

On my way to work (im doing the nocturnal shift 6.30pm until 6.30am) and i stumbled to this coffee cart sitting neatly just outside the UTS library and they were swamped by customers.  The cart was run by 2 person team, a cashier and a barista. I ordered long macchiatto which were prepared straight away and also tasted really awesome. It even made me close my eyes for a split second.

Sydney, did you know that you look so amazingly beautiful today? I’m sure you were complemented a lot today.

Sunny and so warm, all the love birds sitting in the park drenched by the sun, people kicking back and enjoying couple of cups of caffeine, dogs running around chasing birds. Amazing!

I don’t normally go to bigger coffee chain like Starbucks, Gloria Jeans or Coffee club. Unfortunately, I have no other options but Coffee Club to get my caffeine fix. I just received back my developed 35mm films and i got my Indonesian cigarette (gudang garam kretek) and ordered myself a long macchiatto. I gotta say, it’s not that bad but it’s not excellent either. The shot tasted sour due to over extraction and i need to put half of sugar packet to help diminish the sourly taste. The temperature was right, not tepid but also not too hot and it didn’t burn my tongue. The overall experience is pretty average but pretty impressed with the prompt service which is a plus point in my book. They have ample of space to accommodate you and your big group and they have outdoor seating if you enjoy your coffee with cigarettes and it is pet friendly too!

Hi all,

way too long since i been here. Anwyay, newsflash…I’m not an Adelaideian anymore as I recently relocated to Sydney for greener pasture. I’ve really enjoyed my 3.5 years stay in Adelaide, met different people that shaped me into who I am today. Sydneysiders is what I am today and I cant wait to start my journey on finding that perfect cup again in this vast city. I heard about Campos, Toby Estate, Cafe Sydney and other famous cafes and seriously I cant wait.

I typed cafe in google maps over Sydney City area and OMG look at all those dots.

Cafes in Sydney

The Big Table is a medium sized stall situated inside the infamous Adelaide Central Market next to Marino meat market and Zuma Cafe.

The service was prompt, staffs are friendly and most importantly coffee is excellent. I love spending my early Saturday morning here, the market noise somehow sounds very comforting. TBT also sells food, fresh juices, milkshakes and typical western breakfasts and most of their prices are wallet friendly. You might have to get in early to secure a seat at TBT but fear you not there are more stalls serving great coffee including Lucia’s, Zuma cafe, The Grind and so forth to make sure you have your daily dose.

If you are planning to visit Adelaide, make sure you include Adelaide Central Market in your itenerary. I am sure you’ll fall in love with it like I did.

Monday blues, thats what I had this morning at work. 48 hours of weekend is never enough, but luckily we will have 4 days week this week as Friday is public holiday (Easter Friday) and Monday (Easter Monday).

Long day at the office but Liv emailed me asking to visit one of the place that i wanted to go last time. It’s called Kappy’s Tea and Coffee, this coffee place is actually hidden from the main street in china town. Which somewhat makes it pleasant and away from the busy china town. The place is pretty much a storage/warehouse with industrial feel with few seatings outside the shop. Not many people were there and in fact we were the only 2 customers this afternoon, whats with that?

Kappy’s has vast collection of coffee beans and teas beautifully preserved in jars and you can select any teas from the display and they will prepare it for you. I ordered long macchiatto and they serve it in a mug, it’s nice and it resembles long black with thin layer of frothed milk. Liv ordered her Affogato, she always have this craving of affogato for some reason haha. Anyway we had a few chats over coffee with easy listening jazz instrumental playing at the background. Kappy’s also does on site roasting as you can see pictured the big roasting mill.

The coffee i had was above average, but it’s fresh which add extra point. I will definitely come back and try some more of the teas and coffees.

I love this little coffee place and they sell most amazing original authentic Swedish cakes (unlike the frozen stuffs from IKEA). They serve breakfast and lunch as well. They make excellent chai latte and great fresh coffee.

It’s sit neatly in semaphore road (40 semaphore rd, semaphore) next to flight centre. Me and Aruna (my housemate) were there about 2 hours ago on a rainy Sunday and had our brunch session. I ordered the big fat pancake with berry jam and it was a very tasty one. While she ordered a bacon and sunny side up eggs with home made toasted bread. The food came out fairly quickly and we were sitting outside in a rain in a tiny table with table umbrella. Such a great way to spend the lazy Sunday. The staffs were very friendly too which made the experience even better.

We then stroll down barefooting (not sure if that’s even a word) to the beach. Dipped our feet for a little while enjoying the pouring rain. Very relaxing!

I revisited Espresso Royale in a busy saturday morning. I just realised that magill road can be quite busy sometime filled with commuter getting to the city prthaps for cheap lunch or yum cha at china town.

Espresso Royale once again delivered fresh coffee with prompt service. The place is non smoking even at the outside sitting area. Perhaps if you are a full time smoker and likes your coffee with it then I suggest you might want to pick elsewhere.

This place has become one of my favorite and I don’t mind having to drive from the west side to the east side of town every now and then.

Hi Adelaide
I finally got BIS on my BB so I can post stuffs on the fly.

Adelaide has been getting great weather lately. I have been going to lots of new cafes. Last one I went to was the Zootz Kitchen Bar @ 257 seaview road, henley beach. They make long macchiatto in a latte glass which I prefer and like. They also have an awesome aquarium in a gutted old television. Totally recommended to spend beautiful summer afternoon. They are also licensed so you can enjoy it the SA way by drinking the coopers pale ale :) + it is smoker friendly on its outside seating.
